Kristie Simmons, MS, CEDRD-S

My goal is to support my clients in establishing harmony between the mind, body, and soul. I want my clients to understand that food isn’t only a gateway to our physical health, but also our mental, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being. I work with my clients through an individualized approach to explore and cultivate a relationship of balance and compassion towards food, health, and body.

How I Work

I believe it is essential to create a foundation of nutrition and health education to counter myths and misconceptions that are rampant in our society. As a Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian, I appreciate the full picture and how nutrition and health interact within a client’s life. It is my aim to support my clients in finding and flexing with the balance that is critical to achieving their best possible life alongside the best version of themselves. I enjoy integrating a values-based approach to nutrition therapy as we work to understand that food is essential to achieve comprehensive wellness.

My Why

I am deeply passionate about supporting others in their brave journey towards wellness. I have devoted my career to the treatment of individuals suffering from eating disorders and disordered eating because I believe in the totality of the human experience and I see food as a vehicle to obtain a more rich and meaningful life. I believe that when I can assist my client’s in expanding their perception of nutrition and health that I am guiding them towards a deeper understanding of and compassion for their authentic self.

Training & Experience

I began my journey in Dietetics 12 years ago. I graduated from the University of Connecticut with my Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics where I was accepted into the Coordinated program that incorporated the 1200 clinical rotation hours into my four years of schooling. From there, I decided to further develop my RD by pursuing my Master’s Degree in Nutrition at Northeastern University. I quickly found my niche in working with eating disorders and disordered eating. Over the past eight years, I have had the opportunity to work at all levels of care from inpatient to outpatient, with clients from age 8 to 80, treating individuals and full family systems. Two years ago, I became a Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian (CEDRD) through The International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) and recently became an approved supervisor to support other clinicians in their pursuit of becoming a certified expert in the treatment of eating disorders.

Client Testimonial

Kristie is a fantastic nutritionist and has helped me immensely.

Kristie has been an integral part of my recovery from my eating disorder. She has been supportive, honest and caring from the beginning. I really appreciate her approach to intuitive eating and her genuine practice of the HAES mentality. I am just so grateful to have gotten to work with her and have her on my side. She has helped me begin to learn to trust and love myself and beat my eating disorder. I have infinite gratitude for Kristie!

I have been working with Kristie for the past couple months and am so grateful I found her. She is very calm (to my sometimes not so calm), relatable and authentic. Having her support through my own personal journey so far has been incredible. She has offered me a very different approach to my personal situations and is helping me see a lot of of things in a new light. She listens to me, holds me accountable and suggests realistic and attainable goals for me to work towards (both emotional and physical). I really feel that she is treating me as a whole person and creating a space for me to really learn about myself and what’s possible for me and my future. Even though it has been a short time I have seen many victories through our experience together so far.
