Sarah Calloway is a a strengths-based and psychodynamic psychotherapist specializing in trauma, eating disorders, body image, depression, anxiety, and more. She believes that changes can and do happen with intentional effort and commitment to the therapy process.
After having her own positive, life-changing experiences in therapy and within her communities, she wanted to pay it forward to others. She saw therapy as a way to support her community, contribute to others’ healing, and provide a tremendous amount of purpose and meaning to her own life. She also felt that it aligned with her strengths, such as desiring authentic connections with others and meeting them with warmth and humility. She thrives on building relationships with her clients that are transparent and genuine.
Sarah was drawn to specializing in the treatment of eating disorders for several reasons. In part because of her own personal experience, she understands how complex addressing one’s relationship to their body and food is and how important compassion from others is to the healing journey.
She believes the 3 keys to recovery include:
- Admission of the problem & a desire for change.
- Fostering self-compassion and self-love; working towards decreasing self-criticism and becoming more self-curious.
- A close relationship with an honest, safe, and trusted therapist and positive family and/or friend support.
