Mina Mogahdam, Certified Nutrition Counselor

Mina specializes in ARFID & disordered eating.

My Approach

I empower my clients to rebuild trust with their bodies and make food choices that honor both their physical and emotional health. We work together to build realistic, sustainable habits that bring about long-term health benefits. My approach is compassionate, evidence-based, and tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

I enjoy taking my work with clients out in the real world. In addition to sessions via video or in person at my office in San Francisco, I offer restaurant and grocery store outings. These experiences are a great way to facilitate swift changes in negative eating habits and beliefs.

In our sessions, you can expect:

  • A non-judgmental space to heal your relationship with food and your body.
  • A tailored plan that honors where you are in your recovery journey.
  • Practical tools to rebuild hunger and fullness awareness, challenge food fears, and develop balanced eating habits.
  • Support for both the physical and emotional sides of eating, because food is more than fuel!

Why I Became a Nutritionist

Specializing in this field allows me to combine my passion for nutrition with my commitment to mental health. I provide personalized, empathetic care that meets individuals where they are in their recovery journey. Watching my clients rediscover the pleasure of eating and rebuild their relationship with food has been incredibly rewarding.

I’m greatly drawn to the concept of mindful eating—tuning into our body’s natural hunger and fullness cues, savoring each bite, and cultivating a healthy, joyful relationship with food. I wanted to bring this mindful approach to those battling eating disorders, helping them reconnect with their bodies in a compassionate and non-judgmental way.

I have also worked with many clients who have struggled with ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder). Unfortunately, this disorder is still widely misunderstood, and many people suffer silently for years, being simply written off as just “picky eaters.” Without proper support, they can struggle with social isolation, nutritional gaps, and a constant sense of anxiety around food.

In my practice, I help clients with ARFID gently expand their food variety through curiosity, gradual exposure, and a focus on safety rather than pressure. By anchoring the work to their bigger life goals (whether that’s enjoying meals with friends, going out on dates, or simply feeling more freedom and less fear around food), I’ve witnessed clients begin to make meaningful, lasting progress.
